Comment: After having made a weekend trip to this Hyundai dealership to test drive cars, I finally decided to trade in my clunker for a 2009 Hyundai Elantra. I live in another part of the state, so most of my business and bartering had to be done over the phone. A second weekend, I was able to make the trip to Chattanooga and was met with NO willingness to negotiate - they would not even back off of the sticker price. I left insulted, but with the promise from the floorman to call me back with a better price once he'd "Talked to someone else".
Well, it only took a few days, but they finally called. This time, they were much closer to my number, and after some debate, we agreed to meet on an OUT THE DOOR price in the middle, provided I could get the car before the month of July ended.
In order to make the trip, I arranged to miss a day of work (unavoidably), filled my clunker, and drove to Chattanooga. We were down to signing the paperwork, when they led us into another room to tell us that "our price could no longer be honored" and tried to jump up $800. When we said we could not pay the difference, we were told that we had no choice because the clunkers program was about to end. (Congress had voted to extend the program by $2Billion at this point, but they would not hear that.) Hurt and insulted that our AGREED upon deal was now being thrown by the wayside AT THE TIME OF SIGNING, we left.
So the day came to an end - carless. I have lost a full day of pay and the cost of driving my clunker across the state. If you plan to purchase, be prepared for last minute surprises. Our agreed price was OUT THE DOOR, but it did not keep them from telling me that I suddenly "did not qualify" for rebates that they, themselves had already "checked" and "validated" for me.
Go somewhere else that will treat you with respect, and that will honor their word. Long Hyundai may look great, but their tactics are deceitful, and their sensitivity to their customers needs come second to padding their own pockets. Good luck in your purchase.
