Comment: I did not end up buying a car from Bancroft because I don't want to give such a rude dealership my money. I originally went there with my Frontier for its 90,000 mile service. The service department called me to let me know it would cost nearly $5,000 to fix my truck so I asked them to call back with what they would give me for it on trade in. I went back a few hours later and test drove a Versa and a used Mitsubishi Lancer. The salesperson really didn't know anything about Lancers so let me use his computer to read some reviews online. The reviews suggest taking it home for a few hours beause some people didn't like how it handled, so I did just that. The finance department called me at home to let me know that I my loans were approved and the rate I could get. I went back later than evening expecting to take home a car, decided on the Versa and picked one out. The fiance department, however, told me that my loans were in fact not appproved and I would have to wait until at least the next day. I was ignored by the employees and no one knew what was going on.
The next day I called at about noon and asked about my loans. I was told they hadn't even tried to send them to banks yet. Annoyed, I picked up my truck and went to some other dealerships to test drive cars. I ended up at Glick Nissan in Westborough where I asked for a second opinion on the repair bill. Without showing the mechanics the estimate from Bancroft they came up with almost the same figures to fix it. I test drove a used Corolla while waiting for them to look at my truck and liked it so much that I put down a deposit.
When I got home there was a message from Bancroft to call from both the service department and the salesman I had spoken with the first day. I let the service department know that I would be out of town for 5 days and that if I didn't buy a car from them I would pay the diagnostic fee and rental car bill. I spoke with the salesman who wanted to know why I had not come to get the Lancer. I told him that I did not want the Lancer and that I had been told my loans were not approved. He said that was a mistake, that my loans had been approved on the first day. I let him know I would be out of town for 5 days. The next day before I left there was yet another message from the salesman asking when I was going to come and sign for the Lancer!
When I got back in town there were 2 more messages, one from the service department and one from the salesman. This time the salesman said I should come get my Lancer because another person was really interested in buying it. I called back, told them once again that I did NOT want the Lancer and to send me a bill for the service diagnostics. That afternoon I went to pick up my Corolla from Glick Nissan feeling very relieved that I had walked away from Bancroft.
The next day I come home and there is yet another message on my machine from Martin in the service department at Bancroft THREATENING to call me at the hospital to "have me paged so we can settle this matter." I was beyond angry at that point. Had he not made that phone call I doubt I would have taken the trouble to write this review. I hope that no one ever buys another vehicle from Bancroft Nissan!
